Caitlyn Elie is from Miami, Florida. At the age of three, Caitlyn began her dance training at the Miami Conservatory focusing on ballet, which led her to have a classically trained background. At the age of five, she trained in modern dance under Dale Andree. In her teenage years, she attended New World School of the Arts for high school and furthered her training in modern dance styles such as Horton, Graham, Limon, and Cunningham, and also continued in ballet. Caitlyn has performed in works by Peter London, Gerard Ebitz, Lara Murphy, Dale Andree, and Tina Santos. She is now a graduate of The University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance performance with a modern concentration. While she attended USF, she had the honor of working with many choreographers such as Yaniv Abraham who works under Ohad Naharin with the Batsheva Dance Company, Robert Moses from Robert Moses’ Kin, Andee Scott, Erin Cardinal, Bliss Kohlmyer, and Jeanne Travers. At the age of 20, she was able to travel to Paris, France during the summer of 2016 to study abroad under the dance program at USF. When she was in Paris she was able to take class and work with other well known artists/choreographers from Europe and parts of the United States such as Julien Desplantez, Catherine Dénécy, Clint Lutes, and Kevin Quinao. Caitlyn is now a dancer with Artistic director Alex Jones in the Collective Soles Dance Company and focusing on developing her movement vocabulary and working towards choreographing her own works and performing. She hopes to attend grad school in the near future.
