Deana grew up in Tampa, FL where she danced for Mary Jo’s Performing Arts Academy for 15 years. Not only did she compete with the Universal Movement Performing Arts Company, she also performed the role of Clara (Nutcracker) with the Sarasota Ballet for four years. While dancing at Mary Jo’s, she performed in other MJPAA productions such as, The Wiz, Jesus Christ Superstar and Fabulous Fifties (a rendition of Grease). In 2001, she was also chosen to perform in Super Bowl XXXVII at Raymond James Stadium.
Carrying on with her passion for dance, she attended the University of South Florida where she graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance in May 2006. She received numerous scholarships throughout the four years and was honored with three talent grants to attend different summer workshops, including: Ann Reinking’s Broadway Theatre Project (Tampa, FL), Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet Dance Intensive (San Francisco, CA) and Giordano Jazz Dance World Congress (Chicago, IL). Deana was chosen to travel to Milan, Italy to perform a concert in the: Celebrazione IX Festival Internazionale della Musica e delle Arti.
After graduation from USF, she joined the MJPAA faculty until she was accepted into the Nicholson School of Communication at UCF to further her education. Deana was awarded a BA in Advertising and Public Relations. Deana has a strong desire to be a mentor and a prominent role in a student’s life. She believes in providing an elite environment for the community while offering the highest standard of student-centric teaching. She is thrilled to return to the faculty of MJPAA.
