Cheyna Alexander, mezzo-soprano, is a native of Las Vegas, Nevada and has received her Master of Music degree in vocal performance from the University of Alabama. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she was heard as Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, La princesse in L’enfant et les sortilèges, and Najade in Ariadne auf Naxos with the UNLV Opera Theater. She has appeared as Mad Margaret in Ruddigore with Greensboro Light Opera and Song, and Meg Page in Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Mrs. Leach in the world premiere of Freedom and Fire! A Civil War Story by Amir Zaheri, Rose in Street Scene, and Anne in A Little Night Music with the UA Opera Theatre.  Ms. Alexander was a participant in Druid City Opera Workshop and recently won 3rd place in the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) National Finals Young Artist Division Competition, and 1st place in the National Opera Association’s Collegiate Opera Scenes Competition Musical Theatre Division. She was most recently seen as Lady Jane in Patience, Charity in Anything Goes, Eliza in The Zoo, and The Counsel in Trial by Jury with the College Light Opera Company. Cheyna has been teaching for six years, and is delighted to be a part of the MJPAA family!
